A step-by-step guide to getting Brand name approval from Amazon’s seller central.


Difference between Generic listing and Brand name approval listing

Generic listings:

Generic listing is the listing in which you list the product without any brand name approval but the side effect of Generic listings is that any one can copy your listing and you product and sell on amazon and you can’t take any legal actions against him.

Brand name approval listing:

Brand name approval listing is the listing in which you can list your product with your own brand name and no one copies your brand name and listing and can’t sell your product. If someone does this, You can take a step  and report against his listing.

How to get brand name approval:

Step 1: First of all, This is the Amazon Seller Central dashboard on the left corner clicks on the three dots. 

Step 2: Then you need to click on the Catalog menu.

Step 3: After clicking on the catalog section. You need to click on the “Add Products” menu.

Step 4: After that, This page is open and now you want to click on the “I’m adding a product not sold on Amazon”.

Step 5: Next step is that you want to add your product name here like shirt, pan, glass etc.

Step 6: Next step is that when you enter your product name like I enter my product name is t shirt after that this section is open.

Step 7: Then in this section you enter your brand name like which you select. Must remember that no have in the market brand name like you, You want to select a new brand name which is completely new in the market.

Step 8: In this step, I enter my brand name on which I want to get brand name approval. My brand name is “DroneMask”.You can check that I enter my brand name.

Step 9: In the next step, If you buy the UPC you enter your UPC otherwise you need to click on the “I don’t have a product id”. I mention this section in this picture.

Step 10: Move forward I don’t have a product id so I click on the section “I don’t have a product id”.


Step 11: In the next step you need to click on the “Next” button.

Step 12: When you click on the next button Amazon asks that if you want to list the brand you want to get the brand name approval for this product in this picture that I mention amazon asking “Brand Name is Required”.

Step 13: Now you want to click on the “Apply to sell” section.

Step 14: When you click on the Apply to sell Section then this detail page is opened there are complete instructions about brand name approval you can watch the video for more instruction.

Step 15: In the next step, You scroll down the page if you have UPC then entered it, if you not have UPC then you don’t want to entered. otherwise you don’t want to enter the UPC then add your product title, manufacturer buy and your product description.

Step 16: In the next step, You want to enter your product category, You can check your category by amazon.

Step 17: Then in the next step check all of these option and select them read all of these options and then mark all of these.

Step 18: After checking all of these marks. You want to drop the files where your brand name is printed like any box or any other products images will be clear and visible.

Step 19: Here I share some pictures where my brand name is printed. You can also upload this type of pictures in the drop files section.

Step 20: After uploading the pictures you want to enter your gmail in the mentioned section and then click the submit section.

Step 21: After Click on the submit section again come onto the Your dashboard click on the three dots again.

Step 22: Then click on the Catalog section and go the view selling applications

Step 23: Then you come to this page and you can check that your Application for brand name approval is under review after 24 hours. You can get the brand name approval. If your request is declined again, re-reply in 3 to 4 times and you can get the brand name approval.
